Brown & Bunting is located at 237 High Street Northcote. We specialize in literature and children’s, but also have a keen interest in design and art, history, cooking and non-fiction. Books are bought and shelved daily and we never know what we’ll unearth, therefore our customers never really know just what they might find.

Our heartfelt belief in paper and ink (and bricks and mortar!) is the foundation on which we have based our business. We love and respect the book as a tactile object, a piece of art and as an individual piece of history that is accessible to all. We put time and thought into what we stock and how each should be presented; putting together a curated selection that we hope gives you as much pleasure as it does us.

Directions: By train – From the city you can either take the Hurstbridge Line to Westgarth, or preferably the Epping Line to Merri. By tram – Take the 86 north from Bourke Street. We are half a block north of stop #31 out the front of the Northcote Town Hall. By car – Our Melways reference is Map 30 F8. Free 1 hour parking is available until 18.30 along High Street weekdays and all day Sunday. All day parking is also available down Westbourne, Bastings and Mitchell Streets.

Northcote: Our shop is just over the crest of Rucker’s Hill, once called Mucker’s Hill and at another time Rucker’s Folly (!). One of a row called the Wallis Buildings, after their developer, it has been previously tenanted by grocers and electricians. Situated 7km North of Melbourne’s CBD, Northcote was established in 1833 and is, we suggest, for visitation a more salubrious alternative to Brunswick or Lygon Streets.
